KK Partnership Council: Another almost 7.5 million euros for 25 projects from EU funds
News
The Partnership Council of the Košice Region (KK) today approved another package of investments from European sources in the current programming period 2021-2027. It plans to support almost 7.5 million euros for 25 projects that will fundamentally improve the quality of life in the regions.
"In 2024 and 2025, the Košice Self-Governing Region was among the leaders in the number of approved project plans within the Integrated Territorial Investments and in the number of submitted applications for non-refundable financial contributions, it is among the regions with the highest activity, right after the Prešov Self-Governing Region. There are objective reasons why drawing on EU funds in Slovakia is complicated, but in the Košice Region we made the most of it even in this situation," said Rastislav Trnka, Chairman of the Košice Self-Governing Region.
EU funds are going to the entire region
Significant support is going to the modernization of the elementary school in Jaklovce, the reconstruction and equipment of the community center in Kazimír, the renovation of the wastewater treatment plant in Nálepkov, as well as the reconstruction and extension of the Elementary School of Arts in Smižany. Thanks to EU funds, Kaľava will have a public water supply system. Road modernization can be looked forward to in Komárovce, Bohdanovce, Čakanovce, Bačka, but also in Helcmanovce, Smižany, Rakovnica and Spišské Tomášovce. The Partnership Council also approved an investment in a playground in Malý Kamenec. Thanks to EU funds, waste will be managed more ecologically in Janík, Malý Trakany and Kechnec. Water retention measures will be added to the park in Lieskovany. In the case of the Košice Self-Governing Region projects, investments will be directed to the reconstruction of the M1843 bridge over the Trnávka stream in the municipality of Vojčice and to the Regional Social Services Center Zemplín, where a new community-type supported housing facility with a capacity of 12 places will be built in the town of Strážske, which will help expand the availability of social services in the region and support the transition from institutional to community care.
What is the Partnership Council?
The Partnership Council is a platform in which representatives of local governments, the state, the business sector, education and civil society cooperate. They jointly decide which projects will receive support from European funds in order to respond to the real needs of the territory. The Košice Self-Governing Region plays a key role in this process. It coordinates the preparation of the regional investment strategy, sets development priorities and ensures that investments are balanced across all regions of the region.
Košice Region to launch 290 new projects
In the current programming period 2021-2027, the Partnership Council of the Košice Region has an allocation of 254.4 million euros. To date, it has distributed the money among 290 projects, in which 218.9 million euros are tied up. The remaining allocation will be decided this year. Investments are directed to transport, education, public buildings, water infrastructure, sports, public spaces, as well as culture and tourism.
